Must Have Mobile Marketing?
Got a mobile strategy? We have been busy developing our own mobile communications – see our new dedicated mobile site at http://m.deeson.co.uk where we look at the benefits and relevancy of mobile marketing to different types of organisation.
The term 'mobile' is actually a bit too broad to be useful and leads to a lot of confusion. It can simply mean access from a mobile phone to a standard website, dedicated mobile applications (for example iPhone apps), SMS communications with customers or customers buying from mobile-specific websites.
Effectively taking advantage of mobile technology means understanding how it can benefit you and your target markets specifically – there is no one size fits all unfortunately!
For example, donation driven organisations may consider the ability for people to easily donate via their mobiles at an event invaluable. It may not be relevant for the same organisation to have an iPhone application though.
The first step of a mobile strategy is to consider how it could change the way your users engage with you. This may result in you ensuring that your existing site is mobile-optimised (as compatible as possible without major changes) or developing a dedicated mobile site (such as our http://m.deeson.co.uk) which delivers information in a very mobile friendly format.
This article is one of a series that will explore some of the ways that you can take advantage of mobile marketing.
